White Raccoon Mario is a special form ofRaccoon Mario thatMario andLuigi are able to obtain inNew Super Mario Bros. 2. This form is very similar toWhite Tanooki Mario fromSuper Mario 3D Land andSuper Mario 3D World, as both forms give the sameinvincibility, and can be obtained in the exact same way. Unlike in those games, the player can still access the White Raccoon form even after the level or the finalboss is beaten. Reflecting Fox Luigi's appearance, Luigi becomesWhite Fox Luigi, gaining fox ears and a fox tail in this form.
History[edit]
New Super Mario Bros. 2[edit]
InNew Super Mario Bros. 2, to turn into this form, Mario or Luigi needs to obtain anInvincibility Leaf, which is found inside anAssist Block. It gives the playerRaccoon Mario's abilities, causes theP-Meter to charge more quickly, allows the player to run and stand on water (likeMini Mario), and grants invincibility for the stage. If Mario or Luigi picks up aSuper Star in this form, he will gain that power-up's effects (gaining increasingpoints andextra lives by running into enemies and a rainbow glow) for its duration.
If the player uses White Raccoon Mario on any stage, the save file's stars will stop shining permanently, theToad Houses will not pop back up even if allStar Coins andMoon Coins are collected, and any level completed is marked red; however, the player can go back to those stages and complete them normally, which will reverse these effects. White Raccoon Mario is also available in theCoin Rush mode as an option to play as. It works the same as in the other modes, except the player has White Raccoon Mario to play as from the start, but will not have aGold Flower in theitem storage as the player would have if they had played as normal Mario after completingWorld 6. The form also disables the+ Clocks at the start of each course in theImpossible Pack.
