TheWater Crystal is an enemy encountered in battle alongside the optional bossCulex inSuper Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. Like Culex and the other crystals, it is from the dimension ofVanda and met in a portal leading to that world found inMonstro Town.
The Water Crystal is the second weakest crystal. While wielding decent Defense, its Magic Attack and Magic Defense are still lower than that of theFire Crystal.
It uses mostly ice-based moves, namelyIce Rock,Blizzard,Crystal andSolidify, as well as the non-elementalDiamond Saw.
Its only weakness are Fire-based attacks.
In theNintendo Switchremake, the Water Crystal initially returns in the Culex boss fight where it retains its two-dimensional 16-bit appearance, offering a stark contrast to the game's revamped and updated 3D graphics. However, a post-game rematch gives it a full model, calledWater Crystal 3D, as well as the other crystals and its master. In this form, defeating it causes it to useMagic Force before shattering, giving all its allies a magic boost.

- All four of the Crystals originally appeared inFinal Fantasy and featured prominently inFinal Fantasy IV, from which Culex's theme music comes.
