TheTri-Speeder is an unlockablekart body that appears inMario Kart 8. Hence the name, it is a three-wheeled kart that is painted green and slightly resembles a1937 Morgan Super Sport. The Tri-Speeder is one of two vehicles inMario Kart 8 to have only three wheels, with the other vehicle being theBone Rattler. It sports an open V-twin engine with a? Block from the front facing northeast housing the crankshaft, and two cylinders with heads shaped likemushrooms housing the pistons and valve gear. The cylinders and exhaust pipes shake while the kart is moving. The emblem is located on the hood. It has an advantage in weight and traction, but a disadvantage in acceleration and handling. It shares its stats with theBadwagon, theSteel Driver, theStandard ATV, and theGLA.

InMario Kart 8 Deluxe, the Tri-Speeder has its stats changed, so it now boosts ground speed, water speed, weight and water handling, and all its other stats (except traction) are lowered. It now only shares its stats with theSteel Driver and theBone Rattler. CPUWario uses the Tri-Speeder withOff-Road tires andMorton uses it with theMonster tires.Skyward SwordLink also uses this kart occasionally but pairs it up with theTriforce Tires instead. Additionally,Metal Mario pairs it with theMetal tires.

Aside from kart bodies introduced in theMercedes-Benz ×Mario Kart 8 DLC, this is the only kart body introduced inMario Kart 8 to not reappear inMario Kart Tour.

Notes

This is the only non-DLC kart body in the game to not be raised above theMonster,Hot Monster, andCushion tires. Instead, they are placed on the direct axles, similar toATVs andbikes.
Its engine sound is actually a combination of three different sounds. The idling and revving sounds are unique for this vehicle, while the acceleration and boosting sounds are the same asStandard ATV andJet Bike respectively.
