Rainbow Cruise

- This article is about the stage in theSuper Smash Bros. series. For theSuper Mario 64 course, seeRainbow Ride.
Rainbow Cruise is a stage inSuper Smash Bros. Melee,Super Smash Bros. Brawl, andSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate based on the courseRainbow Ride (with which it shares the name in the PAL versions of the former two games), a course inSuper Mario 64. The stage begins on afloating ship. The stage is very small in this area, and it is fairly easy to fall off. Eventually, the ship crashes into some floatingplatforms, and begin to sink in the air. All players have tojump on the platforms, or else go down with the ship. After that, the stage becomes a side-scroller, where player characters fight while progressing in the stage. Eventually, the fighters reach a part of the stage where many pieces of the stage start to fall off, or disappear. There is a pendulum withmagic carpets nearby, which disappear over time. UnlikeSuper Mario 64, these carpets do not follow a rainbow trail. A group of blocks similar toDonut Blocks appear near the end of the stage, which drop down if they are stood on too long. Finally, the end is reached, where players must fall down through the aforementioned platforms, or else lose a life. If there are still some surviving players by the end, they end up landing back on the floating ship for the stage to repeat itself. There is a mountain with houses on it appearing in the background, which was not present inSuper Mario 64.
Twoevent matches take place here inSuper Smash Bros. Melee,Event 10: All-Star Match 1 andEvent 13: Yoshi's Egg, and another two inSuper Smash Bros. Brawl,Event 11: Yoshi's Rainbow andCo-Op Event 5: The Yoshi Team of 50.
InSuper Smash Bros. Brawl, the stage appears as a Melee Stage, under its originalSuper Mario 64 and PAL name, "Rainbow Ride," in early versions of the game. Later versions of the American release change the name back to Rainbow Cruise. The stage returns again inSuper Smash Bros. Ultimate; this time, it is called Rainbow Cruise regardless of region.
