- “Bonjour, everyone! A race unlike any other is about to unfold over these historic cobblestone streets!”
- —Lakitu,Mario Kart Tour News[1]
Paris Promenade is a race course inMario Kart Tour. It takes place inParis, France. The course has three routes, which are called Paris Promenade (known asParis Promenade 1 between versions 1.2.0 and 1.4.0),Paris Promenade 2 andParis Promenade 3, with each route debuting in the2019 Paris Tour, theValentine's Tour (a nod to the city's nickname "the city of love") and the2021 Paris Tour, respectively. A battle course version of the course namedParis Promenade B later debuted in theSpring Tour. Unlike most city courses inMario Kart Tour, this course is very compact and is set within a very small area with all three routes overlapping each other significantly, visiting the same landmarks as a result, such as theEiffel Tower and theArc de Triomphe. Additionally, the second route starts in the opposite direction compared to the other two.
In theBooster Course Pass DLC forMario Kart 8 Deluxe, Paris Promenade returns as the first course of theGolden Dash Cup.
Mario Kart Tour
Paris Promenade
This layout visits the city's southern (following the map) half. The course begins at theChamps-Élysées facing theArc de Triomphe. One bypass road for the Arc appears on the left side, though the player can also use a shortcut inside the Arc by breaking through twoPiranha Plantwooden cutouts. After a gradual left, the player encounters aGlide Ramp that sends them over theJardins du Trocadéro and underneath theEiffel Tower, where twoGoombas and apipe reside. Afterwards, the player must make a sharp left, followed by another left next to aBig Piranha Plant and a bypass of theLuxor Obelisk leading to the finish line.
The course also appears asParis Promenade R (reversed),Paris Promenade T (with ramps), andParis Promenade R/T (reversed with ramps). In all three variants, the Goombas and pipe under the Eiffel Tower are gone, and racers are directed inside the Arc de Triomphe instead of around it. In the R/T variant, racers pass the Luxor Obelisk on the side which was previously unused.

Paris Promenade 2
This layout is driven in the opposite direction compared to the first layout, and it visits a different side of the city. In the standard layout, the racers start the course in a street facing theLuxor Obelisk instead of theArc de Triomphe like in Paris Promenade 1. OnPlace de la Concorde, a street on the right leads to theEiffel Tower. Players can see on the right thePont d'Iéna and abateau-mouche on theSeine. The street then turns left, and goes underneath theEiffel Tower, where twoGoombas reside. Players then have a view onCathedral of Notre Dame in the background. Afterwards, racers must make a sharp left leading to a roundabout with aBig Piranha Plant in the center. After passing through a part of theLouvre, players have a view onSacré-Cœur in the background, as well asOpéra Garnier andLa Madeleine along the large left turn. Then, another left turn in front of theÉglise Saint-Augustin leads to the Arc de Triomphe, which racers get around to find the finish line.
The course also appears asParis Promenade 2R (reversed),Paris Promenade 2T (with ramps), andParis Promenade 2R/T (reversed with ramps). In all three variants, the Goombas under the Eiffel Tower are gone. In the R variant, there are twopipes on the track that hold passive Piranha Plants. In the R/T variant, the Big Piranha Plant is gone and racers drive over where it once was usingKanaami Road.

Paris Promenade 3
The course starts at theArc de Triomphe, just like the first route. Racers make a right curve around the Arc before continuing, as in Paris Promenade. The path continues much the same, though theglide ramp seen in Paris Promenade is gone. Once at theEiffel Tower, racers make a left turn rather than driving under the tower. They then drive towards the Luxor Obelisk before making a right turn to aBig Piranha Plant, where they then drive to the left as they would in Paris Promenade 2. However, racers are cut off from driving back to the Arc de Triomphe as the path takes them back to the Luxor Obelisk before a final right turn to thefinish line.
The course also appears asParis Promenade 3R (reversed),Paris Promenade 3T (with ramps), andParis Promenade 3R/T (reversed with ramps). In the R variant, there are twoGoombas just before the Arc de Triomphe, where racers then use a glide ramp to glide straight through it. In the T variant, racers can go either left or right around the Arc; the middle path is blocked by barriers on lap 1, but there is a glide ramp at the end of the track which allows racers to glide over the barriers on lap 2. In the R/T variant, racers are directed through the middle of the Arc on both laps, and the Big Piranha Plant is gone.

Paris Promenade B
As this is a battle stage, there is no "route" to drive along. Instead, selected portions of the course are used, and players can drive on the selected portion in any way they desire. The parts of the course used only include theArc de Triomphe, theLuxor Obelisk, and all roads in between. A road near the Arc de Triomphe that is not seen in any previous route is included. It was the final battle course to be added toMario Kart Tour. Like all other battle courses in this game, it uses the music forSNES Battle Course 1 fromMario Kart 8 Deluxe.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
Paris Promenade makes its console debut inMario Kart 8 Deluxe via theBooster Course Pass. It is the first course of theGolden Dash Cup, the first course in the pass overall, and one of threeMario Kart Tour courses added in the first wave of the DLC, alongsideTour Tokyo Blur andNinja Hideaway, which are featured in theLucky Cat Cup. This version of the course combines all three of its routes fromMario Kart Tour.
The first two laps act as a combined version of Paris Promenade 1 and 3 with some aspects of 2, using elements and pathways of all three versions. Players start facing theArc de Triomphe and can go around either side of it (like in Paris Promenade 3T), or through thewooden cutouts of Piranha Plants underneath it using aDash Mushroom orSuper Star. After a gradual left, players will take a Glide Ramp over theJardins du Trocadéro. Afterwards, the player is given two routes they can choose from. One goes underneath the Eiffel Tower before turning left like in Paris Promenade 1 and 2; the other turns left just before the Tower, then turns right at theLuxor Obelisk, like in Paris Promenade 3. Both paths lead to a roundabout with aBig Piranha Plant in the center. Afterward, the path takes after Paris Promenade 3, circling around to the other side of the Luxor Obelisk and turning back towards the starting line.
In the third lap, the players are forced to turn right by anarrow field that blocks off the Arc de Triomphe. Instead, they take a path past theÉglise Saint-Augustin like in Paris Promenade 2R, before starting to traverse the course in the opposite direction as the last two laps, similarly to the R variants of the Paris Promenade 1 and 3. Because of this, it is possible to pass by racers still on a previous lap driving in the opposite direction. All of the aforementioned alternate pathways remain the same. However, there is now a Glide Ramp on the other side of the Jardins du Trocadéro, and the one from the first two laps is no longer present. Unlike the first two laps, if racers are hit by an item during the glide and fall into the Jardins,Lakitu will consider this out of bounds and pick them up. The race ends on the opposite side of thestart/finish line that the race started on.
The minimap has been rotated 90 degrees clockwise compared to the equivalent minimaps inTour. While the Big Piranha Plant at the roundabout remains, the pipes andGoombas under the Eiffel Tower have been replaced by aDash Panel. If the player takes the path to the left of the Eiffel Tower, the right turn afterwards will now have pipes on the path. The Église Saint-Augustin section now has a glide ramp and the umbrellas can be tricked off of. This is the onlyTour city track that appears inMario Kart 8 Deluxe to use the same layout on more than one lap (namely the first and second laps). All of the other city tracks have a different layout on each of the three laps.
As with all other courses from Wave 1, this course's icon and lighting were adjusted slightly in the 2.1.0 update.
Paris Promenade's appearance in theBooster Course Pass makes it one of five courses in theMario Kart series that allow racers to run into other racers going in the opposite direction, the others beingLuigi Circuit inMario Kart: Double Dash!!,DS Peach Gardens,Tour Amsterdam Drift, andTour Rome Avanti (the latter three also only in theBooster Course Pass).

Notes
- Paris Promenade andPeach Gardens are the onlyMario Kart courses to have their music in 3/4 time.
- In a trailer posted to promote the release of Wave 1 of theBooster Course Pass, the glide ramp before the Eiffel Tower is replaced by a generic ramp (similar to Paris Promenade 3), but still functions like a glide ramp.[11]
- A painting of this course can be seen on theFlying Easel glider.
- There is an arrow field at the far east (assuming the compass directions matchMario Kart Tour) end of the city, over where the east exit to the roundabout at that location would be inMario Kart 8 Deluxe, despite there being no actual exit.[12]
