Nibblas are red-orange, carnivorous fish enemies inDonkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! that behave likeSnapjaws fromDonkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest. Nibblas are entirely invulnerable to attack, and they swim through the water quickly, followingDixie andKiddy around a level. If theKongs fall into the water, the Nibbla charges into them and bites. One difference that Nibblas have from Snapjaws is that they cannot swim through walls. They do not return inDonkey Kong Land III, unlike most enemies.

Nibblas appear in three levels:Bobbing Barrel Brawl,Kreeping Klasps, andFish Food Frenzy. Fish Food Frenzy features a unique Nibbla that eats underwater enemies along the way while following the Kongs throughout. The Nibbla changes color depending on its mood. When it is blue, the Nibbla is happy; to keep this mood, Nibbla has to eatKocos along the way. If Nibbla turns purple, it starts to frown; if it is light pink, its fangs begin to show; and if the Nibbla is bright red, it swiftly bites the lead Kong then changes back into light pink. If Nibbla eats aLurchin, its mood worsens, although there is Lurchin near the end of the level that guards the path to aBonus Barrel. ANo Animal Sign of Nibbla appears at the end of Fish Food Frenzy, but it is different from those of the actualAnimal Friends because the Nibbla does not cross and stays behind. Aside from levels, a Nibbla's only other appearance is as a photograph inDixie Kong's Photo Album, categorized as part of theAquatic Attackers enemy class. In theremake, they also appear in thePacifica levelStormy Seas and theKaos Kore levelLightning Lookout.
