TheLucky Bell,[1] also called theLucky Cat power-up,[2] is anitem introduced inSuper Mario 3D World. It resembles a bronzejingle bell, or possibly akonguro'o, with eyes. It turnsMario into hisCat form with a red collar with a bronze bell resembling the power-up added to it; this version of the form lets him transform intoLucky Cat Mario, very akin to theTanooki Suit'sStatue form, except it gives himcoins while falling, with more being given the higher he falls, and makes himinvincible; however, it does not protect him againstlava,poison,Charvaarghs,Fuzzy Hordes, or being crushed. It is considered an upgrade of theSuper Bell, as later in the game, it replaces the Super Bell in the remixed courses. The Lucky Bell starts appearing in the Bonus World,World Mushroom in the level World Mushroom-2,Spiky Mount Beanpole. The Lucky Bell is the only power-up item to not have a correspondingStamp. It serves as the counterpart of theStatue Leaf fromSuper Mario 3D Land.
Lucky Bells also appear in theBowser's Fury mode of theenhanced port. Up to five Lucky Bells can be stored within the inventory, like the other power-up items. Lucky Bells are uncommon, though if Mario hits aKoopa Shell with fireballs, boomerangs, or tail whips eight times before it lands, the shell will break open to reveal a Lucky Bell.
A Lucky Bell appears inMario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass as the emblem of theLucky Cat Cup.[3]
