History[edit]
New Super Mario Bros. Wii[edit]
A Limited Lift first appears inWorld 5-4 inNew Super Mario Bros. Wii, where it is the main gimmick of thelevel. It is found floating inpoison, and it starts moving once the player steps on it. It features numbers on its side that start from zero and go up to five, representing the number of enemies and objects onboard the raft at once, not including the players. The Limited Lift stops when at least five enemies and objects board it, and the player must clear out at least one enemy or object on the raft to get it moving again.
New Super Mario Bros. U /New Super Luigi U /New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe[edit]
Limited Lifts return inNew Super Mario Bros. U andNew Super Luigi U, exhibiting the same behavior as inNew Super Mario Bros. Wii, albeit with the numbers now counting down instead of up. One appears inMagma-River Cruise in the former and inMagmaw River Cruise in the latter, and they are floating inlava rather than poison this time. Limited Lifts are also given prominent roles in the challengesMole to Goal andMole to Goal Returns, with the limit reduced to two in both cases.
Limited Lifts reappear inNew Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe.
