Level Flags,[1][2] also known asEnd of Level Flags,[3] are objects inDonkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! andDonkey Kong Land III. Level Flags appear at the end of every level, where they are connected to a flagpole, and it can be pulled upward from a rope attached to it to end the current level and return to the map screen. Level Flags function as the replacement ofEnd of Level Targets fromDonkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest.

Super Mario 3D World uses a similar method of displaying the levels on the map screen. An uncompleted level displays a black flag with a white symbol. After the player completes the level, the flag gains the character's color and emblem. The flag turns golden if the player hits its top. Finally, a green star appears at the top of the flagpole if all threeGreen Stars of the level are collected.

History[edit]

Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble![edit]

Level Flags are objects inDonkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!. AKrem Flag represents any level that is accessible but not yet completed, and theKongs can supersede it by activating its Level Flag at the end. A Level Flag can be activated byjumping and pulling at its rope, changing it from white to either pink if Dixie is pulling it or blue if Kiddy is pulling it; if the"COLOR" cheat code is active, the flag color is instead purple for Dixie and green for Kiddy. The flag also flies if the Kongs obtain everyBonus Coin in the level. The Level Flag on the map screen appears as it did when it had been raised, and it also has a gold pennant if the Kongs defeat that level'sKoin for itsDK Coin. The Level Flag artwork shows the "DK"emblem on the pennant. Once the level is completed, the color of the flag cannot be changed by replaying and completing it with the alternate Kong.
