Kannons are largecannon-wielding members of theKremling Krew first appearing inDonkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest. They are actuallyKlumps trained to use such weapons.[1] However, while normal Klumps wear army gear (green helmet, grenade belt, etc.) Kannons wear more of a pirate ensemble, such as earrings, a large belt, and a large black hat with a skull and cross-bones on it. Kannons also have different ears.
History
Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest
Kannons are enemies inDonkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest. They attack by shootingbarrels orkannonballs at theKongs in whatever direction they are facing, either forward or downward. Kannons can be found in several levels, but mostly underground areas. Despite being large and burly,Diddy Kong andDixie Kong can easily defeat a Kannon with any attack method. In the ending cast of characters, a Kannon appears under the "Kremling Kuthroats" enemy class. In theremake, Kannon's defeat sound effect uses the same voice clip asKrunch fromDiddy Kong Racing.
Kannon's original name thegame's development was "Klumpa."
Donkey Kong Land 2
Kannons are enemies inDonkey Kong Land 2. They are first encountered in the game's equivalent of their namesake level,Kannon's Klaim. Kannons behave similarly as in the previous game.
Super Mario-kun
A Kannon makes a brief cameo in Volume 14 ofSuper Mario-kun. The last part of the book has a series of comics based onDonkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest, including a 'find the differences' activity between several enemies, including Kannon.

Notes
- Kaptain Skurvy, a character from theDonkey Kong Country animated series, resembles a Kannon. The only obvious difference is that Skurvy has a hand-cannon instead of a cannon, but it is still large enough to fire small cannonballs.
