Pikmin is a sci-fi video game franchise created and published by Nintendo. The mainlinePikmin titles are top-down real-time strategy games in which the goal is most often to leave the planet the titularPikmin reside on, PNF-404. This is done by leading large squads of the Pikmin to defeat enemies, collect valuable objects, and explore the environment.

AsPikmin was created with heavy involvement fromShigeru Miyamoto, both it and theSuper Mario franchise have had much shared history. References to each other are frequent, and several core elements to thePikmin franchise are directly inspired bySuper Mario, such as its main characters.
