History
Lady Margaret Hall is one of the constituent colleges of theUniversity of Oxford. It was founded in 1878 as the first women's college. In 1979 it became fully coeducational and now has a nearly even ratio of men to women. You can learn more about the College'shistory on this website.

Governance
ThePrincipal andFellows form the Governing Body of the College. The College is constituted and regulated in accordance with theCollege Statutes, which are made from time to time by order of Her Majesty in Council in accordance with the Royal Charter of 17 March 1926, and the Universities of Oxford and Cambridge Act 1923 (seeThe Stationery Office). TheCollege Bye-Laws are additional rules made by the Governing Body. The Governing Body has responsibility for the direction and management of the affairs of the College.

The College exists to promote scholarship through teaching and research. LMH operates three wholly owned companies which help to support the College's core activities of education and research: LMH Conference Services Ltd., Lady Margaret Hall Trading Ltd., and Lady Margaret Hall Properties Ltd.
