| Xi'anAddress Xi'an is the capital of Shaanxi province and one of Chinas most historically important cities. With a history of more than 3,100 years, Xi'an is one of the Four Great Ancient Capitals of China and has been the capital of 13 dynasties. Xi'an is also well known for being the end of the Silk Road and for its world famous Terracotta Army created during the Qin Dynasty. Since the 1990s, Xian has played a major role in the economic revival of Chinas interior, especially the central and northwest regions. In addition, Xi'an has re-emerged as an important cultural, industrial and educational center of the central-northwest region. Xi'an is the largest industrial center in China's mid-west and northwest and has consistently been one of the top recipients of foreign direct investment in western China. Industries that play a major role in Xians economy are manufacturing, software design, and tourism. Powering much of Xians economic success are the cheap human resources drawn from the approximately 100 area universities. The software and IT industries have particularly benefited from the approximately 3,000 computer science graduates entering the work force each year, each earning $120 a month -- roughly half the wages for the equivalent job in Beijing. As a reflection of Xians economic importance, the Euro-Asia Economic Forum is held every two years in Xian and the Investment & Trade Fair for Cooperation between East & West China is held every March. Tourism also plays a major role in Xians economy with millions of visitors every year visiting the Xian City Wall, Tomb of Emporer Qin Shihuang, Xians Great Mosque, the Big and Small Goose Pagodas, and the world class Shaanxi History Museum.
