Ex-mayor Richard Riordan has shelved hisLos Angeles Examiner project, semi-officially, while he prepares to assume the advisory post of state education secretary. Riordan himself doesn't comment, nor does Tim DeRoche -- listed as president on the Examiner website -- but art director Eric Almendraltells the L.A. Business Journal the paper is on indefinite hold. Anotherstory says daily circulation at the L.A. Times was down 1% to 955,211 and up a tick on Sundays to about 1.4 million. The Daily News was flat at 178,360 daily and 201,020 on Sundays.
