


Guided Tours– Explore the gallery with the one of our museum guides for an in-depth learning experience. Guided tours must be scheduled with at least two weeks prior notice. NOTE: Guided tours will become available February 1, 2026.

School Groups– Self-guided tours are available for school groups of all ages. Guided tours will become available beginning February 1, 2026. Standards-based tours are not currently available as staff work to update content based on the new gallery.
NOTE: For both guided and self-guided tours, school staff will receive one free admission for every ten students. Additional chaperones will have to pay admission.

Rural School Days– Experience what school was like in the 1920s with our Rural School Days program! This tour is offered Tuesday through Friday. The one-hour program is available for first-sixth grade students. The four-hour program is only available for fourth and fifth graders.
Bus grants

The Kansas Museum of History and Kansas State Capitol have partnered with Freedom's Frontier National Heritage Area, which offers help with 75 percent of funding towards transportation costs. There are 41 counties within the heritage area. More information about the bus grants are available atfreedomsfrontier.org.
Public transportation in Topeka
Topeka Metro provides transportation for class visits to the Kansas Museum of History.
