Kenmare Lace & Design Centre

Kenmare Lace is a needlepoint Lace brought to Kenmare by the Poor Clare Nuns in 1861. In order to create employment, the local girls were taught to make this very fine lace. A flourishing lacemaking industry with an emphasis on design grew up around the beautiful lace. We are very proud to follow that tradition at The Kenmare Lace and Design Centre where you can find pieces of locally made Kenmare Lace and other Irish laces, books on lacemaking lacemaking, kits and lacemaking materials.
