The Science Team at OSPI works closely with national and statewide Science and STEM partners, and is dedicated to providing guidance for the development and implementation of Washington’s science learning standards and science education grants. Grant Opportunities

Both grants have the same purpose: to collaborate as a network to develop and deliver climate science professional development using NGSS. Applicant eligibility is the difference between the two grants.

• Form Package 809-Clime Time ESDs and Tribal Schools
  This grant is for the educational service districts (ESDs) and tribal schools spread throughout the state

• Form Package 817-Clime Time CBOs
  This grant is for community-based nonprofit organizations (CBOs) and community-based nonprofit tribal education organizations (CBTEOs). OSPI interprets non-profit, community-based tribal education organization to mean an, "organization focused on education, whose board or leadership team is comprised primarily of federally recognized tribal leaders or members, and who has demonstrated collaboration with tribal nations, with a vision and mission that shows a commitment to serving tribal communities."

Awards/Competitions

Albert Einstein Distinguished Educator Fellowship

The Albert Einstein Distinguished Educator Fellowship is a paid fellowship for K-12 math, science, and technology teachers. Einstein Fellows spend a school year in Washington, DC serving in a federal agency or on Capitol Hill.

Green Ribbon Schools Award

Schools and districts with a strong emphasis on sustainability are invited to apply for the U.S. Department of Education's Green Ribbon Schools Award. Schools and Districts must be making significant strides in 3 main pillars:

Pillar 1: Reducing environmental impact and costs.

Pillar 2: Improving the health and wellness of schools, students, and staff.

Pillar 3: Providing effective environmental and sustainability education, incorporating STEM, civic skills, and green career pathways.

Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST)

The Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) are the highest honors for America's teachers of mathematics and science. These awards recognize and honor K-12 teachers for their outstanding work in the classroom and also as leaders within their schools and communities.

STEM Contest

Samsung and its partners are asking teachers to participate in its annual contest to promote Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) education, a key academic challenge in our country.
