The biggest event in the Las Palmas Carnival was staged at the second time of asking last night after an enforced suspension due to the terrible weather on Friday.

Las Palmas – 22.02.2016 – The Drag Queen competition has become synonymous with the celebrations and is widely recognised as Carnival’s biggest calling card, drawing fans not just from Gran Canaria but much further afield also. This year was no different and the outlandish outfits worn by the semi-naked contestants on the by now customary massive platform shoes vied with each other for originality. Due to the unprecedented number of entries (20), the Gala organisers had to splt the show into two parts for the first time in its 19 year history to accommodate all the participants. Drag Grimassira Maeva turned out to be the most popular choice among the jury and duy began his reign as the 2016 Drag Queen.
