Matt Fraction Leaving Fantastic Four and FF

He's not Superman, you know!

Last month we discovered that writer Matt Fraction would be teaming with superstar artist Joe Madureira fora new series called Inhuman, a series that -- as you might suspect -- puts the Inhumans back at the forefront of the Marvel Universe. Unfortunately, it seems that this exciting series has come at the cost of another. Or two, rather.

Fraction will be leaving Marvel's First Family, and the makeshift team that replaced them, behind. Fantastic Four #12 and FF #11 will be the last written by Fraction, so he'll be off the books completely as of next month. However, as he's already plotted ahead of his exit, he'll retain a story credit until the arcs have concluded around each book's issue #16.

Replacing Fraction on Fantastic Four is Karl Kesel, while Lee Allred will join his brother Mike on FF.

"The demands of Inhumanity on Matt’s time increased to the point where something had to give, and that something turned out to be Fantastic Four and FF," editor Tom Brevoort toldCBR in an interview. "So Matt outlined the balance of the story he was going to be telling in those books, much as he’d done for Fear Itself: The Fearless a while back, and we’ve brought in Karl Kesel on Fantastic Four and Lee Allred on FF to execute those plans and to make them their own."

While it's certainly a bummer to see Fraction move on from these books (both series have been reviewed quite positively here at IGN), Inhuman will no doubt be worth the sacrifice.
