Ashley Scott and Jude Law inA.I.

The May 6th issue of theLos Angeles Times featured afascinating interview with Steven Spielberg, talking about the genesis ofA.I. and his collaboration with the late Stanley Kubrick on the project. Spielberg recalls Kubrick's initial discussion of the story with him in 1985, which the director poignantly recalls as "a breakthrough in our relationship. The story wasn't as important to me as was the fact that for the first time since we had met in 1979, he was actually telling me a story he was considering for himself as a filmmaker." There's also an amusing account of the moment Kubrick decided Spielberg would be the ideal choice to directA.I. – recalls Spielberg: "He said, 'The card will read great. It'll say, "A Stanley Kubrick production of a Steven Spielberg film." Don't you think people will come to see that?'" And, as everyone who has seen theA.I. one-sheet knows, that is exactly how the credits read. All in all, for anyone anticipatingA.I., as well as for fans of Kubrick and/or Spielberg, this interview is a must-read.

Along with the interview, theLos Angeles Times also featured a rather stunning new photo fromA.I. (above right), of which a large version can be seen over atAin't It Cool News. The pic features Jude Law and Ashley Scott, and it is definitely a sexy, striking image.

Also in the photo department, the June issue ofPremiere features another newA.I. shot, once again with Jude Law, which you can see over atthe Steven Spielberg & Dreamworks SKG Fansite, along with a rather nifty newJurassic Park 3 pic.
