I.A.Recordings is a small group of volunteers documenting past and present industrial activity using high definition video and photography.

If possible, we'll record people and processes while they're still working - moving pictures are vital for that, but they also add an extra dimension to industrial remains and the techniques used in old crafts and trades.

Recent Release

The Crown Nail Company (C.56)The last UK tack manufacturer and one of the last cut nail makers in EuropeThe Crown Nail Company closed in December 2004. We were lucky to be given the opportunity to record the works, the nail and tack machines operating (many built in-house), the tack bluing process and interview the Works Manager and Deputy Manager.

Most of the footage from our visit has been compiled along with selections from the interviews to give a brief history and glimpse of this lost trade.

Latest Production

Rix Merlin - a day onboard J.R.Rix tanker barge Rix Merlin bunkering ships at Alexandra Dock, Kingston upon Hull and Grimsby Royal Dock. While travelling along the Humber the sunny August day allowed us some excellent views of the impressive industrial landscape either side of the estuary.

A rare chance to see views around the docks and estuary.
