Jonny Lee Miller Signs With UTA (Exclusive)
The actor stars as Sherlock Holmes on the hit CBS drama “Elementary.”

Miller currently stars as Sherlock Holmes inElementary, CBS’ modern-day, New York-set adaptation of SirArthur Conan Doyle’s stories. The sophomore drama recently netted a landmark three-million-per-episode off-network deal with WGN America and Hulu Plus.

Before landing the role of one of literature’s most famous detectives, Miller played on the other side of the law as the big bad in season five of Showtime’sDexter, sharing a SAG nomination with the rest of the show’s cast that year. He also toplined the whimsical ABC dramedyEli Stone and starred in BBC productions ofEmma,Canterbury Tales andByron.
Miller made his big-screen debut as the lead in the 1995 cult filmHackers and further broke through a year later withDanny Boyle’sTrainspotting, playing Sick Boy oppositeEwan McGregor. In 2006 he received BAFTA Scotland and London Critics Circle Film Award nominations for his portrayal of real-life bipolar cycling championGraeme Obree inThe Flying Scotsman, and in 2009 he starred oppositeWilliam Hurt andChiwetel Ejiofor in the Emmy-nominated anti-apartheid telepicEndgame. Miller’s other notable feature credits includeAfterglow,Mansfield Park,Melinda and MelindaandDark Shadows.

The English actor reunited with Boyle in 2011 for London’s National Theatre production ofFrankenstein. Miller alternated the lead roles of Victor Frankenstein and the Creature withBenedict Cumberbatch, leading to shared Olivier and Evening Standard Awards wins for both men. Miller also starred inSomeone Who’ll Watch Over Me, Feston andThe Play What I Wroteon the West End, as well as on Broadway in 2009’sAfter Miss Julie, oppositeSienna Miller.
