It's not what you'd read if you wanted to read the best most interesting and gorgeous prose in the world, but if you want a little knowledge about actual stuff that happened and was done by actual people in this actual world to stop actual illegal polluting, it's pretty interesting. And inspiring.

I grew up in a town on the Fox River so I constantly heard stories about this activist.
My late uncle even knew him personally and helped him on occasion. I believe he frequented the VFW where I used to work and spend a good deal of time at as a kid. I almost wonder if I saw him without knowing who he was.
I really enjoyed reading this book because the stories are from places I have know, visited and grew up around. I also loved the amount of detail in the book that described the emotions and conflicts the author was dealing with during his activism.
I had forgotten completely about "The Fox" until somebody randomly passed me this book to read. The book is out of print and the copies are rare so I passed it along to somebody else when I finished.
Great book.

Very surprising and inspiring, once I obtained a copy and read it that is. It was difficult to find! Sad, because it would make great reading for a social studies or environmental or even history class. I wish I could have met the man, but sadly he passed away a few years after I had even learned about his heroic, environmental efforts. I would have liked to shake his hand and say "Job well done sir!"
