The folks atICv2 have put together the data from the January 2016 Nielsen BookScan numbers to take a look at what the top twenty graphic novels/manga of the month were through the retail market. The list is fairly manga heavy as it tends to be and in a lot of ways it does mirror theNew York Times Bestseller lists. Of note is that while the main Naruto series is done, fans are hungering for more still, hence The Seventh Hokage & The Scarlet Spring taking the top spot. Viz Media takes quite a few spots here with that, One-Punch Man and Tokyo Ghoul, though it leaves me wishing there was more variety on the list.

Marvel has a good month here with a few Star Wars volumes ranking well as people were looking for new material after coming out of the movies and they’re also seeing continued good movement on their Civil War book. DC Comics works its usual mix of something old and something new with Watchmen and Sandman: Overture while Image Comics snaps up a few familiar spots with The Walking Dead and Saga.
