Jericho filming locations: Take a video tour of the quarry where the navvies toil
Rockingstone Quarry, between Outlane and Scapegoat Hill, is the main setting for the show — we went to take a look round
Jericho made its dramatic debut last night, puttingHuddersfield on the TV map once more.
The eight-part ITV series, set in a shanty town built to house workers on a new railway viaduct, was filmed partially in Golcar and Meltham.
But film crews utilised a former Huddersfield quarry as the main set for the town of Jericho and the ambitious viaduct project.
Rockingstone Quarry, betweenOutlane and Scapegoat Hill, is owned by Huddersfield stone firm Johnsons Wellfield.
They allowed film crews to take it over for several months and Kirklees Council gave production teams permission to build the shanty town set.
The quarry was at the centre of dramatic scenes in Thursday night's series opener, with tragic losses for the Jericho community and significant setbacks for the ambitious viaduct plan.

Samantha GildeaJericho returns on ITV next Thursday at 9pm.
