| Blacktown was one ofthe first white settled areas in Australia, with settlement in the areadating back to 1792, just 4 years after the first settlement at Sydney.Despite over 200 years of white settlement Blacktown is not famed forit's history nor it's historic buildings. To an extent this isunderstandable since the area lacks the grand stone edifices that canbe found in other early settled areas such as Parramatta, theHawkesbury and Sydney itself. Despite this, Blacktown is still home toa wealth of historic sites, both public buildings and sites and privatehomes. Perhaps the most well known of the former would include StBartholomew's, the Royal Cricketer's Arms and Prospect Reservoir andthe Rouse Hill Estate the best known private home.
