Betty White was an American actress and comedian.

Regarded as a pioneer of television, she was one of the first women to have control both in front of and behind the camera, and is recognized as the first woman to produce a sitcom.
She is known for her Emmy Award-winning roles as Sue Ann Nivens onThe Mary Tyler Moore Show, Rose Nylund onThe Golden Girls, and Elka Ostrovsky onHot in Cleveland.
In a career that spanned more than 75 years, she received eight Emmy awards in various categories (five Primetime and three Daytime), a Los Angeles Area Emmy Award in 1952 as Most Outstanding Female Personality, three American Comedy Awards, three Screen Actors Guild awards, and a Grammy. She also has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Betty White was inducted into the Television AcademyHall of Fame in 1995.
White died December 31, 2021, in Los Angeles, California. She was 99.
