Why Volunteer?

Not only do the recipients of voluntary action benefit, but so do the volunteers. Our volunteers affect the success of many initiatives including events, child and youth day camp programs, seniors centres, public programs and the City Archives.

Seasonal Volunteer Programs

Capital City Clean Up

Capital City Clean Up is a litter reduction and graffiti prevention program that coordinates with individuals, communities, social enterprises and professional contractors to showcase Edmonton as Alberta's beautiful capital city.

Leaders in Training

Youth Services Leaders in Training program for development of leadership skills and confidence building.

Partners in Parks

Do you enjoy gardening, but lack the space to do it? Edmonton’s parks are full of plant life that needs tending.

Root for Trees

Root for Trees intends to increase tree planting within the city through continued partnerships with businesses, individual residents, and community groups.

Master Composter Recycler Program

Master Composter Recyclers are community advocates for waste reduction. These volunteers help Edmontonians reduce, reuse, recycle, and compost.

Invasive Weed Pulls

Volunteers are vital to efforts to remove invasive weeds from City parks and green spaces. You’ll learn plant identification skills, get hands-on experience with invasive weed removal and be part of protecting our City’s biodiversity.

City of Edmonton Archives

Volunteer at the City of Edmonton Archives and help preserve Edmonton’s documentary heritage.

Artifacts Centre

Volunteer at the City of Edmonton Artifacts Centre and assist in the preservation of Edmonton's heritage.

Edmonton Valley Zoo

A variety of volunteer opportunities are available including volunteering for children's programs, special events or as a zookeeper assistant.

Fort Edmonton Park

Fort Edmonton Park often requires volunteers to help with community happenings, special events, and general needs around the park.

John Janzen Nature Centre

Volunteer and help create some memories at the John Janzen Nature Centre.
