Dublin Chess Club celebrated its 100 year anniversary in 1967 and to mark the occasion, published a booklet entitled "A History of the Dublin Chess Club". The author was Rev. Dr. A. A. Luce (1882-1977) who was a prominent member of the club at that time and had served as its president from 1960 to 1965. Dr. Luce was professor of philosophy at Trinity College where he also served as Vice-Provost from 1946 to 1952. Dr. Luce's booklet is no longer in print but may be accessed through the following links to its chapters which provide fascinating insights into the first century of the club's history.

Club Records Archive
archive_catalogue_dcc_dec_2017.pdfDublin Chess Club has hard copy records of its activities stretching back to its founding in 1867. These are housed in storage boxes in the archive room of the UAC basement at 3 Upper Fitzwilliam St. Dublin 2. These were used extensively in compiling the histories noted above. The records have been sorted and catalogued and the resultant listing may be of interest to club members or researchers. It is in the format of a spreadsheet which is machine searchable and may be accessed by clicking. Access to the physical records may be arranged through the club's Hon. Secretary.
