CBS Picks Up ‘CSI: Cyber’ To Series

The planted CSI spinoff will join offshootNCIS: New Orleans on theCBS schedule next season.CSI: Cyber was not onthe list of four drama pilots picked up to series by CBS earlier today butas we reported, the project was in final negotiations for a pickup, which now has become a reality. I had heard that CBS would likely not launch theNCIS and CSI spinoffs at the same time, withNCIS: New Orleans more likely for fall and CSI: Cyber for midseason. Written-executive produced by the CSI team of Carol Mendelsohn, Anthony Zuiker and Ann Donahue,CSI: Cyber stars Patricia Arquette as Avery Ryan, Special Agent in Charge at the Cyber Crime Division of the FBI in Quantico, VA, who is tasked with solving major crimes that start in the mind, live online, and play out into the real world. The planted spinoff aired recently as an episode ofCSI to a great response. It is a departure from the forensic DNA of the CSI franchise and is darker as it focuses on cyber crime. AnotherCSI veteran, former CSI: NY showrunner Pam Veasey, is expected to run the new series. Mendelsohn will continue to be in charge of the mothership series as she has been since the beginning. The pickup marks Arquette’s return to primetime at the network where she last starred inMedium.

I would definitely watch csi: cyber crime if ANYONE else was going to play the lead. Patricia Arquette has no expression while acting! If you can even call it acting. How about Sandra Oh or Eliza Dushku or maybe even Mary Loise Parker. This show has possibility but it will be canceled after one season if Patricia Arquette is the star.

Strictly speaking, is this really a CSI agency? (Yes, I know it’s all fictional.) The other CSIs were City or City/County police departments. Now the FBI has gone CSI? Very lame.
Now, with NBC’s cancellation of Intelligence, maybe Marg could return in this CSI iteration. (I’m not a big fan of the original CSI with its current cast – after numerous casting changes, it’s time to retire the original series.)

I agree. Marg’s show Intelligence did get canceled yesterday. They could have her and Arquette both on the show. Isn’t that where Catherine Willows went? She joined FBI and went to Quantico?

I won’t be watching this show. Cbs had a cyber com show in intelligence. I would have rather had intelligence renewed.

The pilot episode was TERRIBLE and was pretty much the final straw that made me, a loyal viewer for almost 15 years, decide to finally quit. The episodes have been getting worse and worse and between the Cyber episode and the supernatural spooky foo one a few weeks ago, I’ve had enough.
