Here is an image of a three-dimensional model giving an intuitive picture of the "loopy" structure of space predicted by loop quantum gravity at very short scale.    Here is another pretty loop-quantum-gravity image.  It appeared in a1993 Discover magazine article on loop quantum gravity.
