As you care for your growing baby, let us care for you. Our obstetrics teams deliver more than 26,000 babies each year, offering family-centered support from your first ultrasound to your baby’s first breath.
Should your baby need advanced care, we’re prepared with seamless care close to home. Our neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) are staffed with highly trained neonatal specialists who are ready to provide the best care for our littlest patients.
During pregnancy, you may have a thousand questions: What’s safe to eat? How do I prepare for childbirth? We’ve got you covered with over 100 webinars, classes and support services as you prepare for the birth of your baby and life beyond.

Bringing home a new baby is an exciting time but it’s normal to feel some anxiety and seek support. Our Newborn Connections program at CPMC in San Francisco is here to help you get off to a great start. We offer in-person and online consultations, phone advice, virtual support groups and breast pump rentals.
In-person or virtual lactation consultations are available for detailed questions or concerns about breastfeeding. Wondering if your milk supply is adequate, whether you have a breast infection, why your baby isn’t latching and worries about a newborn’s weight are common issues a lactation consultant can help with. If you need support or reassurance related to nursing in the first weeks and beyond, call our Lactation Warm Line at415-600-6243. Our support staff returns call Monday through Friday, 10:00 – 4:00 pm.
Our popular breastfeeding support groups are held twice weekly at our Newborn Connections clinic in San Francisco led by members of our lactation support team. In-person and virtual sessions occur Tuesdays and Fridays from 10:00 – 11:30 am. Call415-600-2229 for the link to join online.
Need a breast pump or other breastfeeding supplies? Our knowledgeable staff can assist with pump rentals, feeding supplies, nursing bras, and more. Items are available at our Van Ness Center at 1100 Van Ness Center in San Francisco. Call415-600-2229 for questions or to order.
Many new parents and their partners experience emotional distress when trying to build their families — yet often face these challenges in silence. Our CPMC Perinatal Health and Wellness program is here to support families in the San Francisco Area through these transitions.
If you’re struggling to cope with pregnancy, adjusting to life with a new baby, trying to conceive or working through grief after a miscarriage or abortion, we’re here to help. If you need support, trust that reaching out is a sign of strength. We're ready to offer the care you deserve while protecting your privacy. All personal and health information shared with us is confidential, following strict privacy laws (such as HIPAA). You can feel safe sharing your experiences with us.
Our compassionate teams include clinical supervisors and post-doctoral fellows in theCPMC Health Psychology Fellowship Program. These providers work with you to navigate the challenges you’re facing through individual or couples counseling as well as support groups and referrals.
We’re committed to overcoming barriers to care so everyone can get help when they need it, especially those from under-resourced communities. We offer virtual sessions if you can’t find childcare and provide services in multiple languages so you can communicate fully and comfortably. In-person sessions are free. The CPMC Perinatal Health and Wellness Program is supported entirely by philanthropic donors.

When teenagers are about to become parents, it can be challenging to take care of a child when they still need care themselves. Our Sutter Teen Programs at Sutter Medical Center, Sacramento extends a helping hand to teens across Sacramento County who are pregnant or parenting. Every teen will work with a case manager who helps them give birth to a healthy baby, complete their education, avoid another unplanned pregnancy and develop good parenting skills.
