About Dafa
- Falun Dafa (also called Falun Gong) is an advanced practice of self-cultivation based on the teachings of the Buddha School. Falun Dafa was founded by Mr. Li Hongzhi, the master of the practice. It is a discipline in which “assimilation to the highest qualities of the universe—Zhen, Shan, Ren (Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance)—is the foundation of practice. Practice is guided by these supreme qualities, and based on the very laws which underlie the development of the cosmos.”
  Master Li’s teachings are set forth in a number of texts, among which are includedFalun Gong,Zhuan Falun,The Great Consummation Way of Falun Dafa,Essentials for Further Advancement, andHong Yin. These and other works have been translated into thirty-eight languages, and are published and distributed worldwide.

- The ancients believed that, through disciplined spiritual practice, a person is capable of transcending ordinary human existence. They sought a higher state of being, free from the suffering and illusions of the ordinary world. Attaining this state required moral rectitude, letting go of earthly desires, and the use of meditation and other techniques to improve the mind and body. Many schools of true cultivation appeared, each offering a principled path to spiritual growth. These traditions were quietly passed down over the ages from masters to disciples. Falun Gong is one such practice and is now available to everyone.

- By the end of the 1990s, a hundred million people were practicing Falun Gong. Jiang Zemin, former head of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), perceived the spiritual discipline's growing popularity as a threat to the CCP's atheistic ideology and on July 20, 1999, issued an order to ban the practice. Since then, thousands of practitioners have been confirmed to have died as a result of the persecution, and many more have been imprisoned, tortured, and even killed for organs.

- In both Western and Chinese culture, the principle of karmic retribution—that is, ultimately being held accountable for one's own actions—is widely accepted. The fundamental teaching of Falun Gong is the characteristic of the universe, Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. The universe will reward behavior that is in harmony with this principle, while acts that go against this principle will incur karmic retribution. Stated another way, good deeds are rewarded while evildoings will incur due retribution.

I. Good People

By a Dafa Disciple in Mainland China

(PureInsight.Org) Master has always required that webecome good people in terms of the Fa's standards, instead of just good peoplein everyday people's eyes--people who are always agreeable. A few days ago Iread on the Clearwisdom Website about a French reporter's three personal viewson the Chinese government's oppression of Falun Dafa. The last of the three wasthat those oppressors have convinced themselvesthat we're "people who are easy to take advantage of"! How could goodpeople be equated with "people who are easy to take advantage of"? Notuntil I read that did I realize that maybe many of us have actually mixed,consciously or subconsciously, our old notion of "easy to take advantageof" into the criteria for good people.

Good people should at least be noble! They should at leasthave great moral character! They should at least be deeply respected by regularpeople! They should at least be exemplary people! In the past, good people werecalled "men of noble character"! So as cultivators, all the more soshould we good people surpass these things. Yes, the meaning of "goodpeople" includes forbearance. But for Fa-rectification cultivators,forbearance is a manifestation of being as firm in the Fa as diamond and is amanifestation of the Buddha Fa's majesty.

If we don't get rid of the notion of "being easy to takeadvantage of," won't the evil then have the biggest excuse for andguarantee of destroying us by way of "tests"?

II. Also in a Few Words

The article "Good People" doesn't use a lot of words, but it illustrates an underlying principle. Indestructible righteous faith in the cosmos's Truth forms benevolent Dafa disciples' rock-solid, Diamond-Like Bodies, it frightens all evil, and the light of Truth it emanates makes the unrighteous elements in all beings' thoughts disintegrate. However strong the righteous thoughts are, that's how great the power is. Dafa disciples are truly stepping forward out of ordinary humanness.
