Maza, University of Chile; and M. M. Phillips, Cerro TololoInteramerican Observatory, telex: "Roberto Antezana (University ofChile) has discovered a supernova 3" west and 6" north of the nucleusof the spiral galaxy IC 4232 (R.A. = 13h20m37s, Decl. = -25 51'.0,equinox 1950.0). The supernova (mpg about 16) was found on a 20-minIIa-O plate taken by M. Hamuy and L. Wells with the CTIO CurtisSchmidt telescope on Apr. 18.20 UT, and was also recorded on a T-Maxfilm taken by Hamuy and Wells with the Curtis Schmidt on Apr. 19.23.A CCD spectrum covering the wavelength range 360.0-680.0 nm obtainedon Apr. 20.2 by Phillips with the CTIO 4.0-m telescope shows thatthis is a type-Ia supernova about 11 days past blue maximum. Aspectrum of the nucleus of IC 4232 yields a redshift of 0.032."COMET HELIN-LAWRENCE (1991l) Ephemeris from orbital elements on MPC 18082: T = 1992 Jan. 20.2520 ET Peri. = 271.1233 Node = 11.1285 1950.0 q = 1.519618 AU Incl. = 95.4743 1991 ET R.A.
