"Bullycide in America: Moms Speak Out About the Bullying/Suicide Connection" is a profound exploration of the tragic consequences of bullying in America's educational landscape and a heart-wrenching nexus of bullying and suicide through mothers' eyes. It unveils the delving deep into personal tales of loss and systemic failures. This poignant book calls for urgent action and is essential reading for parents, educators, and anyone committed to protecting our youth from this silent epidemic.

"Bullycide in America: Moms Speak Out About the Bullying/Suicide Connection" goes beyond the statistics to present the harrowing tales of real children who, feeling entrapped in insurmountable despair, saw suicide as their only escape. These deeply personal narratives come directly from the heartbroken mothers who endured the unbearable pain of losing their children to 'bullycide.' These stories are more than tales of personal anguish; they spotlight the systemic failures, societal biases, and glaring lapses in school policies and law enforcement, painting a picture of how the systems in place often inadvertently worsen the plight of the victims. The book serves as a powerful wake-up call, urging educational institutions, parents, and communities to urgently address and counteract bullying. It offers valuable resources and guidance for those navigating this traumatic issue, channeling the combined grief and outrage into actionable change. Far from being just a recounting of sorrow, this book stands as a resolute call to action, urging society to protect its most vulnerable and halt the silent epidemic of bullycide.

I am a college professor in Criminal Justice. I ordered this book to review it for a course that I was creating and I ended up requiring it for all of the students taking the class. It is a very heartfelt, enlightening book, presented from an unusual point of view... the victim's parents. I would recommend this book to anyone who has young children up through the high school years. Everyone needs to be aware of the actual effects that this previously viewed as harmless but now starting to be viewed as life changing event, has on the the individual and those left behind. Education and parental awareness of the seriousness of this activity is the only way to control it. Parents of bullies as well as parents of the child being bullied need to be educated on the topic so that they can address the issue if and when it arises.

This book is a most have. Bullying is more covert these days. No longer is it a physical fight. Children do die by being bullied. School districts have no tolerance policies, but that has made bullying more covert. This book is heart wrenching but by learning from these parents we can have can have open conversations with our children. Get help and prevent suicides.

Bullying is still on the back burner and it needs to be dealt with in a real way. Policies hidden away in manuals meant only to cover the districts backside in a lawsuit prove my point. The only advice given in our district is for kids to tell an adult. They learn not to tell because they are than labels as snitches and the adults do little to nothing. Often the bullied kid is the one the adults shun and belittle as whiners and trouble makers.

I was deeply saddened and angered by what I read. In my opinion, every person involved with children and schools should read this book. Most continue to be clueless as to what is happening to some of our children in schools. I believe most have the "not in my school" attitude.
