What is Inertia?

Answer – Inertia is defined as a body’s tendency to preserve its resting state or state of motion when acted upon by an external force.

Explanation:

Inertia is a body’s inherent property and was described by Isaac Newton in his first law of motion. This law is also known as the law of inertia. It states that if a body is at rest or moving at a constant speed in a straight line, it will remain at rest or keep moving in a straight line at constant speed unless it is acted upon by a force. In other words, inertia is the property that brings a change in magnitude or direction of an object’s velocity.

Here is an example: When a person is traveling in a car and it comes to a sudden stop, their body tends to keep moving forward due to inertia. This is because the body was in motion with the car and it tries to resist change in the state of motion.
