Congressional Caucuses
On March 3, 2005, Members of Congress announced that in order to build support for afterschool programs and increase resources for quality afterschool care, they would establish the first-ever Afterschool Caucuses in the Senate and the House of Representatives. Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska) and Sen. Tina Smith (D-MN) serve as the co-chairs of the Senate Afterschool Caucuses for the 119th Congress. The House Afterschool Caucus is in a leadership transition.
