WiGig is a wireless communications technology being pushed by theWireless Gigabit Alliance to enable multi-gigabit per second communications between consumer electronics products, personal computers, mobile phones, tablet PCs and more tech products.
The WiGig specification allows for communication between wireless devices at multi-gigabit speeds, with WiGig tri-band devices capable of data transfers at rates up to 7 Gbit/s. That is an improvement of more than ten-fold over the802.11n standard, which touts a maximum of 600 Mbit/s speeds.
WiGig pushes the adoption and use of 60 GHz wireless technology.
