FLOPS stands for"Floating Point Operations per Second."
It is used to measure the performance of a computer and particularly with regard to supercomputers.
As of October 2010, the world's fastest supercomputer is theTianhe-1A in theNational University of Defense Technology in China. It claims a record of 2.507petaFLOPS (2.5 quadrillion, or 2,500 trillion floating point operations per second).
