DTLA

DTLA is the Digital Transmission Licensing Administrator. The company was founded by five companies - Intel, Panasonic, Hitachi, Sony and Toshiba.

The only purpose of the DLTA is to license theDTCP content protection tech.

In 1997, the company says reps from the "motion picture, consumer electronics andinformation technology industries undertook an evaluation of technologies to perpetuate within the home environment protections applied to content when delivered to the home (such as encryption of prerecorded media orconditional access cable or satellite delivery systems)."

From there, DTCP was born, and there are now 130 licensees worldwide including TV manufacturers, Cable and satellite box manufacturers, Media Players and Recorders, Chip manufacturers and Home Media Servers and Adapters.
