Kōrero: Screen industry
Made by Silverscreen in 1975, the Crunchie bar train robbery commercial epitomised the qualities the company brought to making advertisements – it told a story, it had high production values and it was great fun to make. It was directed by Tony Williams, who directed feature filmSolo and a series of documentaries, in addition to commercials. Several well-known New Zealand actors appeared in it, including Bruno Lawrence (in a loincloth). It went over budget, and Williams got paid with a motor mower.
