| | I think the two labels were related. Somehow Columbia (Sony) ended up with most of the recordings from both labels, but not necessarily all of them, even if they bought all of the copyrights (tapes always had a habit of disappearing from tape vaults or somehow ended up in wrong vaults through label acquisition). |

| | So Kama Sutra's bankruptcy auction came after its stint with Buddah? |

| | Rd, replying to your now edited comments:
Beltone records, which released the Bobby Lewis record, was distributed by King.
The Bobby Freeman tracks were recorded for King in 2-track stereo originally.
Won't surprise me if they issued the Lovin' Spoonful tracks after the Kama Sutra label was sold at a bankruptcy auction. Before you ask, they weren't owned by MGM, only distributed by them.
The Esquires 45's were distributed by Scepter. |

| | Record Dragon, please refer to my earlier comment. Most of the records you just posted contain King, Scepter or Wand releases, which (for the most part), Gusto owns...so they would have the originals on them. |

I have several Gusto singles that contain the original recordings (non Scepter/Wand, save for two)
GT4-2076 (B-side only)-Could Gusto have gotten the rights to this Beltone track?
GT4-2115 (originals-strange for this label)-Could Gusto get the rights to the Kama Sutra label?
GT4-2173 (stereo tracks)-Were these tracks recorded in stereo?
GT4-2235 (original stereo recordings)-First time I ever heard these tracks in stereo.
As far as "So Rare" goes, I'll take this reissue:

| | I have J.D.'s Boogie Woogie b/w So Rare by Jimmy Dorsey on Gusto, dubbed from another record, replete with its clicks and thumps. But I learned early on to stay away from records on this label because they weren't the original recordings. |

| | Generally the only originals you will find on gusto 45's are recordings that were first on King, Scepter or Wand records. |

| | Spot on PhilMH, I've never considered any of Gusto releases as original recordings. |

| | Definitely not the original recordings, which were produced by Rick Hall at Fame Studios, and released on Atlantic; these are produced by Mark Mathis at Gusto Studios. |
