With each installment focusing on a different heroine, Episode 1 focuses on Miyako Kujo, a fellow classmate with the power to steal items. A fair bit of time is spent on our MC and Miyako's relationship and her desire for justice. Unfortunately, it feels underwhelming as the VN has to sideline that subplot to set up the world and necessary plot elements.
There is a lot of potential in this series from its deceptive twists that paints a grander picture, but Episode 2 is where the series takes off.

I feel like most people agree that the first episode of Nine is the weakest one but at the same time I don't think that it'd be a good decision to skip it entirely since it provides the foundation for next games and isn't reallybad.
At some points it had pretty good character interactions that reminded me of one of the strongest sides ofFumi's writing. But unfortunately it wasn't enough for me and I feel like you won't get the appeal of the writer from this game compared toNanarin orAkeiro.
Though, I won't say I didn't enjoy... Read more »
I'd say I'm glad I did, its a quick read as an intro to the series. It's about what I was expecting after looking into it before buying it; nice quick read, a lot of worldbuilding exposition, and some cute moments with Miyako.
If you're buying it legally it is a bit pricy tbh just for an 8hr VN, but the production quality is INSANELY high. I never thought I'd see such high quality H-scenes in a VN, and the CGs are seriously god tier. Voiced MC (optional) is also nice, with great interface to use.
The story is nothing crazy but sets up a cool world for the next installments, and the character interactions are really cute. If you have some extra cash laying around its worth a read for sure.
I do not want to criticize it severely because I only have played the first game in the series, and, fair to say, in the end, were some interesting moments and hooks about the story ...
Okay, no. This is just a short (8 hours of reading), a bit boring kinetic 2 endings that go only one after another – a great display of "choices matter" illusion novel that disguises itself under acceptable graphics. Yeah, sprites and CG's for me is the only thing deserves a praise innit.
I cannot say much about average music, characters, even sex scenes, in where I can only pay respect to a guy who invented the idea of semen teleportation. The... Read more »
On its own, it doesn't have much value, almost none of the mysteries have a payoff and as much as it has good characters interactions, it often gets repetitive. weak soundtrack and a simple mystery that does not attract curiosity. Besides the sister, the characters are a bit generic, it's not the worst cast in the world, but it's not amazing either,
Best parts are the romance (what gives the only memorable scene), the comedy and the good visuals.
The fact that it's an introduction to a series takes a lot of the story, which is more focused on setting up things than providing an enjoyable experience in its own right.
My main gripe is how the pacing was completely thrown off by the increasing dominance of the romance plotline, and how the entire novel became driven by a frivolous teenage love story, leaving the increasingly interesting worldbuilding to the sidelines - even the characters themselves lost track of what... Episode 1 has to be treated as a setup route/prologue, many of the questions you have about the world, the main mystery and "artifacts" will remain... Read more »
This review is written with no knowledge of anything that happens in later entries of this series. There will most likely be complaints or nitpicks that are resolved in the later chapters. It might be obvious, but as a result I won't be mentioning the following chapters, apart from mentioning that certain things will likely get better later.
Plot: 7/10 - Not particularly fleshed out due to the fact that this is more of an introduction to the series than a true ending. Nothing gets fully resolved, and the ending is quite a... Read more »
The art is quite good and the story, while being rather short in its nature, is interesting. The BGM... is unintrusive... like I'm hard pressed to remember it but it also does not feel out of place. So not something you gonna listen to in your freetime.
So seeing as the story pretty much the setup for the next three episodes it ends abruptly with a massive cliffhanger and I just started the next one and am entirely confused where we pick up since seemingly no endingof the two there are, don't go through again like I did. It's only two... we experienced is the one... Read more »
The ending is not the most satisfying thing in the world, mind. If anything, the bad ending is probably the more emotionally interesting one while the good one just feels kind of... awkward? That said, do understand that this is meant to be the start of a series of 4 and, from what I've heard, probably the weakest entry in the series. However, the story itself is far from weak overall and worth a read.
I guess that's my biggest praise for the novel - it offers a compelling and intriguing story along with the usual routine of pretty artwork and VA performances. It's not a genre-defining-work, but it's one of the easiest recommendations I have ever given... Read more »
Miyako really suffer from the "Fate route syndrome" of being the route that has to introduce the premise. She also has the double whammy of being the shortest of all the episodes. The epilogue in NewEpisode fixed that to some degree, but she really had it rough. Nevertheless, I enjoyed her character and her dynamics with the main character.
After... Read more »
As the 1st ep of the 9-nine- series, quite a number of scenes are about getting to know most of the characters in the series. As the main heroine for the 1st ep, Miyako's that nice girl with seemingly perfect wife attributes, which is fine if you like that but limits the kind of growth she can have and makes her more boring compared to the other heroines. Sora is already best girl here.
-Story: When I bought this game, I did not look at the tags/genres at all. I thought I would find a slice-of-life and heartwarming story, but I found something even more amazing. While the mystery aspect helps capturing my attention, the romance part is my favorite. If you love fluffy and pure love stories with bits of captivating mystery, this is totally for you.
-H-scene: The scenes are of BEST ones I have ever seen/read. When I read it, it was just a part of the story; it does not feel like "a mindless ecchi scene" like in some other games at all (like ones of Yuzusoft; sorry Yuzusoft (┬┬﹏┬┬)). Not only... Read more »
9-Nine- Episode 1 is unfortunately a victim of being episode 1 in a multi episode story. There's a whole lot of information presented here, and not much of it pays off in this episode. I can see where they're likely going with a lot of it, but it just drags this visual novel down quite a bit with it. It also ends in a very anticlimactic scene pre-credit roll, and post-credit roll has another scene that is just "To be continued" fodder.
I'm not a big fan of visual novels, even those in series like this, that... Read more »
