| Notes on event | At 03.44 hours on 4 April 1941,U-98 fired a G7e torpedo atWelcombe (Master Richard Edgar Johnson) in a group of ships from the recently dispersed convoySC-26 south of Iceland. She was hit underneath the stack and sank after 15 minutes. The ship had been missed by a first G7e torpedo at 03.15 hours. The master and 19 crew members were lost. 19 crew members and two gunners were picked up byHMS Havelock (H 88) (Cdr C.H. Thomas, DSC) and landed at Liverpool. | ||
