Arrow Season 7: Colton Haynes Set to Return as Series Regular
The CW‘sArrow has added a familiar face to its Season 7 arsenal.
Fan favoriteColton Haynes — who just last month reprised his role as Roy Harper, to usher former leading lady Willa Holland off the canvas — is set to return to the superhero drama as a series regular for Season 7.
“We’re very fortunate and excited to welcome back Colton toArrow,” the show’s executive producers said in a statement. “While we’ve always enjoyed Colton’s returns to the show, we couldn’t be more thrilled to have him return as a proper series regular — and we’re very excited about all the creative opportunities Roy Harper’s return affords us.”
Haynes in turn said, “I could not be happier to return to my role as Roy Harper alongside myArrow family.”
For Haynes’ very recent Season 6 encore, Roy resurfaced in Star City just as Thea was met with a new threat. The two then left town with Nyssa al Ghul to find and destroy some Lazarus Pits. With Haynes now returning solo, should we start worrying about Thea’s fate?
Since wrapping his originalArrow run toward the end of Season 3, Haynes’ TV credits have includedScream Queens, The Grinder, aTeen Wolf encore andAmerican Horror Story: Cult.

So right after Willa leaves they bring back Colton? My guess is he’ll just have a tad more screen time than she did unless they do something about those tedious newbies. What they should do is give him and KC more screen time and put those kids on the back burner.
I think this means bye bye NTA, and hello to the Green Arrow Corps (Oliver+Diggle+Roy…all in Green Arrow outfits).
I think he will get a lot of screen time. Just because he seems to want to return and the only reason Willa screen time was limited was because she asked for her role on the show to be cut back. With him being a season regular it sounds like they could have big plans for him.
Traditionally, being a Regular means a minimum of 13 episodes in a 22 (or 23) episode season. But the Arrowverse made those cross-show deals that were a different kind of contract, so they could still be rewriting the definition of “regular”.
Cool.. a proper partner for Oliver.

wow, di dnot see this coming, but so very excited about this news! i’ve always liked roy and his role in oliver’s team as arsenal, and i was disappointed when he left.
can’t wait for oliver to have someone else back in his corner.
am however curious how they will explain his presence in star city, seeing how he left with thea.Wait what? What is happening? Where does that leave Thea?
I like Colton and Roy but don’t see how they’re going to manage to shoehorn him in there with all the other masks. That bunker is sooo crowded already. Praying this means Arrow is going to lose those three horrible n00bs at the end of the season.

I thought Thea was leaving for good. So she’s getting her own show. Destroying the Lazarus pits. That would be worth watching.
Lol. I’m really looking forward to how they explain Roy returning without Thea, and I hope it doesn’t involve her death. (Since they didn’t put her in the season-four grave, and they didn’t kill her when the island exploded, it would be kind of a waste to kill her now. Then again, Sara also left with Nyssa in relative safety at the end of season two, only to be murdered in the season-three premiere). Let the wild speculation begin!
Mixed feelings about this one. I like Roy as a character but also like him with Thea. Hmmm
I sure hope this means we will be seeing less (or none) of the three new vigilantes, they are just horrible. I like Curtis working with Felicity on their company, so they could keep him in that capacity, but not as a vigilante.
I really like Roy and I know TPTB said they would never kill Thea, but I’m sad to see her happy ending preempted. I hope they figure something out. Thea was my favourite.
That’s terrific news. Roy Harper is a big part of Green Arrow’s legacy. Glad he’s coming back, and hopefully he takes time away from the “newbies.”
woohoo!!! This makes me super happy. I ONLY hope they don’t botch his return and make him another enemy of Oliver. I’m hoping he is an ally of Oliver, and the two of them team up. Not a fan of the whole divide of the characters. What would have been interesting over a 3 or 4 episode arc has has now gone on way too long.
the show cannot handle that much characters, adding roy to the mix is a give mistake…just take him to legends
I am so happy about this. I have struggled with this season because those newbies are annoying as…you know. I just hope he’s not gonna show up as a doppelgänger from another Earth because then there’s the risk that I might not like his new character. If he’s back, I want him to be the same character. As for what this means for Thea, perhaps she sends him back to help her brother while she and Nyssa keep hunting down those LPs. The only way I see him being able to come back is for Oliver to admit he’s the Green Arrow and that he always has been. Then the charges against Roy would be dropped.
I am thrilled to pieces over this news as I really liked Roy! However, I also am a little sad because I loved Roy and Thea’s relationship.
With the addition of him, I’m betting a newbie will be gone at the end and I’m picking Rene. When Rene first came on the scene he was the one I liked the least. Then when he started working with Oliver in the Mayor’s office, I liked him. Now ever since they split up, I’ve gone to disliking him again, so I’d be ok with him leaving.
This is complicated. They brought him back to bring closure and a happy ending to Thea’s story. But bringing him back without her takes that away from Thea, which is a shame.
On the other hand, Roy Harper is a huge comic book character, and if they mine some of the comic book storylines and expand on his relationship with Oliver, it could be interesting. Colton has never been the strongest actor on the show, but I’d be interested in seeing him as Oliver’s sidekick. Get rid of the newbies (kill off Dinah. She was a horrible idea in the first place), have Diggle pursue a plot of his own, and put Roy in the field with Oliver.
Maybe they could marry off Roy and Thea, and have him return for some reason that involves her safety, or the overall safety of their family. Make Roy a proper uncle to William.Best news of the day. Colton Haynes Great actor good fit in arrow universe. Thank you CW.
So, will he be from an alternate Earth? That way Thea can still be with her Roy, and Oliver can have an Arsenal. Either way, I am happy Colton will be back.

Didn’t Black Siren recently hint that some of the other characters are REALLY BAD PEOPLE on Earth 2? Hmmm . . . Personally, I’d find that an interesting storyline. Tommy Merlyn is supposed to make an encore, too . . .
Can we swap out ALL the newbies for Roy.. The only thing that bothers me about this is what does that mean happened to Thea? Hope she comes back for guest appearances once in a while…
