Usage and history

TheT-21 light repeating blaster,[2] also known as theT-21A,[5]T-21 heavy blaster,[6] or simply theT-21 blaster rifle,[7] was a model oflight repeating blaster manufactured byBlasTech Industries.[1] After being used by theGrand Army of the Republic during theClone Wars, with at least twoclone troopers wielding T-21s during theFirst Battle of Geonosis[4] in22 BBY,[8] it was used by some of theGalactic Empire'sStormtrooper Corps.[2] It was a rapid fire weapon, that was accurate out to long ranges, although its suppressive fire capabilities were limited by its low capacity, as it only had enough power to fire 30 shots; to bypass this flaw, it could be hooked up to a generator for sustained fire capabilities.[9]

The T-21's design was in-part inspired by theDC-15A blaster rifle of theGalactic Republic's clone troopers.[3]Magma troopers andshadow troopers were known to use the T-21.[9] Shortly prior to theBattle of Yavin, a number of thestormtroopers deployed to theplanetTatooine to search for a set of stolenDeath Starplans carried T-21s.[10] A marksman version with optics, theT-21B heavy blaster, was modeled after the T-21 design.[11]
