Sunrise, as it was named by theChissspecies, was aplanet located in theUnknown RegionsSunrise system. The world was covered bymountains,forests, and rivers, as well as acompound located near anyixmetalmine. Sunrise washome by a group ofsentients, theThe Magys's people, who followed a matriarchal figure,The Magys. A poorly developed world, the Unknown Regions location was difficult to enter and find, as the people that inhabited itdied and joinedthe beyond, an energy that bound all life, and preventedstarships from entering the planet.[1]
At some point prior18 BBY,[3] theGrysk operative "Jixtus" found Sunrise, and sent theAgbuitelepathic species to create acivil war between two factions of the planet's inhabitants. The war ended in widespread devastation of Sunrise, and in The Magys and two hundred refugees fleeing to thePaccosh homeworld ofRapacc. There, The Magys and her people met theChissMitth'raw'nuruodo "Thrawn," who visited Sunrise with The Magys shortly after.[1]
Afterward, the Grysks fought Chissover Sunrise with severalgunboats and aBattle Dreadnaught, which was destroyed by theChiss heavy cruiserGrayshrike and theNightdragon man-of-warVigilant.Jixtus's forces did not give up, however, and after the Grysk operative allied himself with theKilji government of theKilji Illumine, sent theKilji picket cruiserHammer to the Sunrise system, where itorbited Sunrise with a Grysk vessel. Afterdefeating both vessels, andfreeing Sunrise from Gryskenslavement, Thrawn assembled afleet over Sunrise, whichfought Jixtus himself, who brought all his warships to retrieve The Magys. Unfortunately for him, his forces were defeated, and Sunrise was freed.[1]
