"Snowflake Snack" is anon-canon animatedLEGO short that aired online onNovember 5,2020 as part of theLEGO STAR WARS: Celebrate the Season webseries. It follows thefoundlingGrogu and theMandalorianDin Djarin enjoying thesnow.

Official description[]

The Child awakens inside theRazor Crest and sneaks past the sleeping Mandalorian to get a taste of his first snowfall.[1]

Plot summary[]

Grogu uses the Force.

ThefoundlingGrogu awakes inside theRazor Crestgunship. He looks around and prods his guardian, theMandalorianDin Djarin. Seeing that Djarin isasleep, he sneaks to the back of theRazor Crest and usesthe Force to open the back door. When he gets outside, he is amazed by the falling of thesnow, and he frolics around in it, attempting to catch a snowflake, which he successfully does. He then uses the Force to gather some of the snow, cobbling it together to form a large snowball. However, he mistakenly drops the snowball on himself, leaving only hisears protruding through the snow.[1]

At this point, Djarin awakes back in theRazor Crest and realizes with alarm that Grogu is no longer in the gunship. He glances around and realizes that the back door is open. He races outside and lifts Grogu from the snow, who smiles with delight. Djarin gives a small snowball to Grogu and carries him back into theRazor Crest. Unbeknown to Djarin, Grogu uses the Force to lift the large snowball he had created earlier back into theship. Thetwo then take off.[1]

Development[]

"Snowflake Snack" is one of several holiday-themed animated shorts released online as part ofLEGO'sCelebrate the Season webseries. The music used during the opening title sequence[1] is themain title theme that was first heard inStar Wars: Episode IVA New Hope, composed byJohn Williams.[5] The one-minute-long short was released onNovember 5,2020,[1] being preceded by "Reindeer Walker" in the series order[3] and followed by "The Pumpkin Batch," released in the next batch of theCelebrate the Season shorts onSeptember 15,2021.[4]

Release and reception[]

It garnered the most views and likes of any video in theCelebrate the Season series' 2020 releases, with over thirty-six million and thirty-seven thousand, respectively, on the LEGO YouTube channel[6][7] and over twelve million and thirty-two thousand, respectively, on theStar Wars Kids channel.[1]

Continuity[]

The short takes place around9 ABY[2] as anon-canonical tie-in to[1] theDisney+ seriesStar Wars: The Mandalorian.[8] The Disney.com listing of "Snowflake Snack" misspelledRazor Crest as "Razorcrest."[9]
