Ananimated comic adaptation of the novel was created byNestlé as part of a licensedStar Wars–themed promotional campaign. The animation can be viewed on theNestlé Comics website by typing a digital code featured on every box of Nestlé cereals.^[7]

In this story, set betweenStar Wars: A New Hope andStar Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, Han and Chewie must fly theMillennium Falcon on a top-secret mission for the Rebellion, while evading ruthless bounty hunters and a relentless Imperial agent.^[8]

Opening crawl[]

It is a period of civil war. The heroicfreedom fighters of the REBEL ALLIANCEhave won their most important victory thus farwith the destruction of the Empire's ultimate weapon,the DEATH STAR.But the Rebellion has no time to savor its victory.The evil Galactic Empire has recognized the threatthe rebels pose, and is now searching the galaxyfor any and all information that will leadto the final destruction of the freedom fighters.For the MILLENNIUM FALCON's crew,who saved the life of Luke Skywalkerduring the Battle of Yavin,their involvement with the rebels is at an end.Now HAN SOLO and CHEWBACCA hopeto take their reward and settle some old debts. . . .

Plot summary[]

Following the destruction of the Death Star at the battle of Yavin, Han Solo and Chewbacca have taken their reward and mean to use it to pay off their debts.Leia approaches Han and Chewbacca to fly asecret mission for the rebellion. They are to rescueCaluan Ematt from the planetCyrkon. Ematt was a member of theShrikes, a special recon unit of the Alliance to Restore the Republic, who were being hunted down byAlecia Beck. After some hesitation, the two agree to go on the mission.

After landing on Cyrkon using an alias for theFalcon, Solo and Chewbacca are confronted by bounty hunters. Beck and her stormtroopers arrive on the scene, and Solo is able to convince her that the bounty hunters are the rebels she is searching for, allowing Solo and Chewbacca to escape.

They arrived at a bar inside theSerendipity, a ship flown by pilot/bartenderDelia Leighton. They were able to locate Ematt at a hotel. After defeating the bounty hunters and learning their intentions, Beck was able to track down Ematt as well, by forcing Delia to reveal his location. Solo and Chewbacca were about to leave with Ematt when the bounty hunters showed up at the hotel. After managing to escape (with some unnoticed help from an undercover stormtrooper), the trio was able to get to theFalcon's docking bay.

Beck and her stormtroopers ambushed Solo, Chewbacca, and Ematt in the docking bay. After Solo created a distraction and destroyed the magnetic field above the ship, Delia provided cover fire from her own ship as the trio escaped. Avoiding TIE Fighters and tractor beams, both ships managed to escape the system, leaving Beck frustrated and vowing not to let Ematt escape her again.

Smuggler's Run is a story of a mission Han Solo and Chewbacca undertake for Leia Organa, set immediately following the events ofStar Wars: Episode IVA New Hope.
