Sketch was the nickname of aclone trooper who served inClone Sergeant Slick's unit during theClone Wars. In22 BBY, he was dispatched with aJedi-led contingent of theGrand Army of the Republic toliberate theplanet Christophsis from theConfederacy of Independent Systems. Sketch joined hisunit on reconnoitering the planet for a strategical ambush site, but the Confederacy was able toambush theRepublic forces. After theclone troopers returned tobase, Sketch and fellowsoldier Punch went to the mess hall. WhenClone Captain Rex andClone Commander Cody interrogated the members of Slick's platoon to locate a possible Confederatespy, Sketch vouched fortrooper Jester, and Punch and Sketch served as each other's alibis. TrooperChopper claimed to have immediately gone to the mess hall, but Sketch objected and stated that he had come in later. However,Sergeant Slick himself was later revealed to be the turncoat and was apprehended.

Theclone trooper who took on the name Sketch^[1] was aclone ofbounty hunter Jango Fett, born on theplanet Kamino to serve in theGrand Army of the Republic.^[3] During theClone Wars, he became a member ofClone Sergeant Slick's unit oftroopers.^[5] In22 BBY, in the seventhweek of the war,^[6]^[7] Sketch was dispatched with a contingent of theRepublic GrandArmy—under the command ofHigh Jedi General Obi-Wan Kenobi andJedi General Anakin Skywalker—toliberate the planetChristophsis from theConfederacy of Independent Systems.^[4]

After their arrival on Christophsis, Slick'sunit reconnoitered the planet and located adouble-towered business complex as a suitable site from which to ambush the Confederatedroids. While returning to theRepublic base, the platoon came across a group ofB1-series battle droids that were attempting to clear a major boulevard ofChristophsian refugees. When the battle droids found a crippled Christophsian and proposedkilling him, the clones intervened and eliminated the droids before returning to the base.^[8]

Sketch and Punch served as each other's alibis.

Later,Sergeant Slick's platoon was stationed in the business building's south-facing tower withGeneral Kenobi andClone Commander Cody, while Skywalker andClone Captain Rex were based with theirsoldiers in the parallel north tower. The Republictroops prepared to attack the Confederate droids below, but the approaching droid column unexpectedly split in two, and battle droids arrived in the south tower andambushed the clones. Skywalker and his men arrived in the south tower to reinforce Kenobi's group, and after taking aturbolift to the roof of the tower, the Republic forces escaped inclone pilot Hawk's LAAT/i gunship.^[4]

After the Republic forces had returned to their base, Sketch and fellow platoon memberPunch went to the mess hall,^[4] which they habitually frequented.^[1] During investigations regarding the possibility of a Confederatespy amongst their ranks, Cody and Rex traced an irregular wavelength in external communications to Slick'sbarracks. Suspecting that one of the sergeant's men was the enemy agent, the two cloneofficers called the platoon back to its quarters to individually interrogate its members. Sketch vouched for the nervousJester and verified his alibi, and Sketch and Punch supported each other's claims that they had been in the mess hall. When trooperChopper stated he had also been in the mess hall with them, Sketch refuted his claim. With encouragement from Cody, Sketch revealed that Chopper had not arrived to the mess hall until later in the evening. However, Slick was eventually revealed to be the spy, and escaped before severely damaging the Republic'sgunships,AT-TE walkers, and weapons depot. When Slick was spotted running into the base's command center, and Rex and Cody ordered Slick's platoon to secure the perimeter. The two clone officers later managed to apprehend Slick.^[4]

Sketch and his brethren discover Slick's treachery.

A Humanmale, Sketch hadtan skin, blackhair, and yelloweyes and stood 1.83meters tall.^[1] He had atattoo of theAurebesh letterSenth, or "S," above his left eye.^[2] During the Battle of Christophsis, he frequented the Republic base's mess hall with fellow trooper Punch to the point where it became a habit.^[1] In the course of investigations into a possible traitor within his unit, Sketch verified Jester's claim and noted his fellow trooper's "obsession" for always cleaning hisblaster after every battle.^[4] His keen observation skills helped Cody and Rex eliminate suspects and zero in on the real traitor.^[1] When Chopper claimed to be in the mess hall, Sketch objected to his statement but then stopped, only continuing with persuasion from Cody. Sketch was later shocked when his own sergeant, Slick, was revealed to be the turncoat.^[4] He was trained for combat, and hisclone armor's greaves were dingy with grime from fighting.^[1]

Behind the scenes[]

Sketch first appeared inThe Clone Wars webcomic Shadowed,^[8] and went on to appear in "The Hidden Enemy," the episode of thetelevision series'2008–2009 first season into which thecomic led. In the episode, he was voiced byDee Bradley Baker, who provided the voice for all of the series' clone trooper characters.^[2] Sketch's model was later reused for clone trooperEdge in thesecond season episode "Brain Invaders."^[9]
